Having put the fence-line up a few weeks ago, we returned to England as we didn't have anywhere to actually live yet while we were getting the plot prepared to build our house, as kind as our friends were for letting us stay in their barn, we didn't want to take advantage.

Upon our return, the grass was fairly long and thick and full of weeds etc, so obviously we needed to get the grass cut, now I had the bright idea of getting a strimmer, so off we went into our localish large town called "St Junien" and found a shop called "Carrefour", and as luck would have it they had a great deal on a petrol strimmer complete with a brush cutting blade, well that should do the trick I thought, so after getting a few supplies (especially lots to drink) we set off back to the plot.

After having a quick look at the assembly instructions, putting the strimmer together was very straight forward, added some 2 stroke petrol, and off it went. Now I knew this was probably going to take me a while, but little did I know how long.........

After strimming  for a couple of hours I had barely made inroads and was thinking this is gonna take me all week.....

Jill had previously made friends with one of our immediate neighbours, who was the daughter of the local farmer who had made this land available for building (I think it was initially to build a house for his daughter), so Jill was chatting with her over the fence when her dad arrived and asked what I was doing, when Jill told him, he said "tell him to stop" (I think he also had a bit of a giggle to himself), while Jill was walking across to tell me, he had got on the phone to his brother, who promptly turned up with a tractor with a grass cutter attached. I moved out of the way and watched as he cut the entire plot in 10 minutes flat, we thanked both of them, then headed off back to our friends barn for dinner.
